Full entertainment
guide The club has made quite an effort to make sure that disabled
fans can enjoy the games as much as everyone else. The front row of seats in
each of the stands at the two ends of the ground (the traditional home and away
ends) are reserved for wheelchairs to be parked in front, and ramp access is
provided to these stands through a separate entrance from Halfords Lane (which
is exclusively for disabled fans and helpers so there will be little or no
problem with queuing to get in) |
By Train
If arriving from outside the area, first catch a train to
Birmingham New Street. Then get a local train to Smethwick Rolfe Street (about
a 10-15 walk to The Hawthorns, mostly uphill) or the newly opened Hawthorns
Halt, which is just a few hundred yards South of the ground along Halfords Lane
(you should be able to get to and from the ground through there on matchdays,
but check for details before travelling) Travel midland metro Tel: 0121 502

Car Parking
The
car parks in Halfords Lane are convenient if you don't mind paying £4,
getting well blocked in afterwards, and having to go on an unscenic detour to
get back to the motorway.) An alternative is Kenrick Way, just off the motorway
island (second exit from roundabout). Free street parking and an almost
immediate getaway. It's 10 minutes walk to the ground - straight down
Birmingham Road. Other car parking is available within a ten minute walk prices
from £2 to £3.
Admission
Visitors
have the exclusive (or semi-exclusive, depending on numbers your team bring's)
use of the new 5,800 capacity Smethwick Stand (£14 in advance, £15
on the day 2000/01). Excellent view with perfect sightlines. Facilities:
Toilets with hot water and paper towels, and a Ladbrokes betting office all to
hand. Segregation from home supporters are two narrow orange coloured nets and
two lines of stewards who are a reasonable lot in general.
